Channel 10 revealed that the Israeli ambassador to Russia has lodged an official protest against Russia’s invitation to Hamas politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh to visit Moscow.
The Israeli channel said that “the Israeli Foreign Ministry also sent a letter of protest to the Russian ambassador in Israel, demanding not to allow Haniyeh to visit Russia.”
Channel 10 said that “the Russian Foreign Ministry rejected the Israeli protest, stressing that Israel is talking to Hamas, just like Russia.”
The channel added that the Israeli ambassador had asked Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to coordinate an urgent meeting between Netanyahu and Putin, without receiving an official response to the request.
Last month, Hamas announced that Haniyeh had received an official invitation from the Russian Foreign Ministry to visit the Russian capital Moscow this month.
